Giddyup Rocking Stool
Giddyup developed from an exploration of less static ways of sitting, and an attraction to old worn saddles.
The Designer often found himself wondering about the stories ingrained in the scruffs, scratches, and wear marks of the old saddles; Where did the saddle come from? What sort of person owned and cared for it? And what was the horse or pony like that wore it? Consequently, he wanted to combine the use of the saddle with the idea of ‘active’ sitting, and by doing so provide a fun experience for the user (both children and adults).

After finishing college he moved to Wellington to study design at Massey, where he is completing his honours majoring in Illustration. When not drawing or pouring over the latest illustration magazines Tim is riding around on his ‘fixie bike’, drinking coffee or smashing a shuttle cock at the local badminton court. The artwork has been created with plenty of input from family and friends who live in Christchurch.

Maori Alphabet Blocks
Maori Alphabet Blocks are not just alphabet blocks; they’re visual learning tools too. And when placed together they look pretty cool!
This imaginative set of marauding gods, numbers, math symbols and the Maori alphabet will help to carry Te Reo Maori through the generations.
Knowing about one’s culture is just as important as learning the alphabet. That’s why these blocks feature six carved figures that represent the sons of Ranginui and Papatuanuku. The blocks can be used to help tell the story of Te Ao Marama*. Furthermore, each carved figure is rendered in one of six different carving styles from around Aoteraroa.
The blocks function as visual teaching aids helping familiarise children and adults with both Maori language and Maori carving.
* Te Ao Marama is a Maori concept relating to wisdom and understanding. It derives from the myth in which Tane separated his Sky Father Ranginui and Earth Mother Papatuanuku to create Te Ao Marama or the world of light. Soft Cup + Saucer
Soft Cup + Saucer is the result of careful investigation into how cups are held and lifted from surfaces – where traditional handles were identified to be counter intuitive. The soft indentations in the cup form a kind of inverted handle. The cup sits beautifully in the hand and is easy to pick up from low coffee tables, in addition this inversion of handles allow people with diminished mobility in their hands to handle the cup with ease.
Exquisitely made from porcelain using traditional artisan slip-casting processes and hand finished. The cup is internally glazed, as is the upward facing surface of the saucer.
