He draws on these three elements to inform his designs.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eInspired by a simple acorn and the curvature of filaments in a ‘dolly light bulb’, the Conic table light reflects the curvature found in Nature and this man-made light.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBy day the Conic is an elegant artwork, suiting an intimate interior setting. By night it transforms into an elliptic light sculpture, using shadow and down light to create curved, Nature-inspired designs at the lamp’s base; stars, snowflakes, tropical leaves or flowers. The interpretation is left to the imagination. The soft glow of light from the top aperture is intended to anchor the lamp while allowing it to ‘float’ lightly on its base.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTo achieve this specific result, Gus created a unique five watt LED array recessed within the top bracket so it is obscured from sight. The LED light directs to the supporting surface and surrounding walls, allowing light to spill evenly through the brackets. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn keeping with Gus’s commitment to using only sustainable natural materials for the Conic, each bracket is honed from 15 mm sustainably grown bamboo. He draws on these three elements to inform his designs.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePonga is the Māori term for the native New Zealand tree fern, more commonly known as 'Punga'. The Ponga floor light is inspired by the cylindrical trunk of a Ponga tree. Overtime, these trunks tend to hollow out if the tree has sustained partial damage allowing bacteria into the trunk causing a cavity to form.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Ponga table light consists of slats of sustainably grown bamboo plywood, illuminated by a unique five watt LED array. The external faces of the bamboo brackets are either finished natural or in black enamel paint. Gus chose the paint specifically for durability and consistency of finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Ponga sits elegantly in an intimate interior setting.
